REVIEW: Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer Review

I’m a ghostly shade of pale (bullies in school used to call me casper, no joke) so I find it dreadfully hard to find bronzers that don’t make me look like I’ve been tangoed or smeared dirt up my cheeks.

I tend to have a couple of bronzers I use when I want a more defined, summer look and don’t really venture out much apart from those, that was until I got Hoola-ed!

Hoola is probably one of Benefit’s most popular products – a universal shade of bronzer packaged neatly into a box with a little brush. The new boxes contain and mirror as well for on the go touch ups. I’ve always been a Hoola virgin but since getting it I’ve been using it almost daily.

Benefit very kindly sent me my very own personalised Hoola Bronzer along with their Ultra Plush Hoola Lipgloss which I’ve also been loving.

Pale gals are probably wondering if I have any tips on how to make the bronzer work? I like to use my Real Techniques Blusher Brush to start subtly and build up the colour (it’s easier to add than take away, right!) starting on my cheeks and building it up onto my temples. Add product and blend, blend blend.
If you are left with any harsh lines or marks, simply grab your foundation brush and buff some leftover foundation into the skin on the lines to even out the look.

This has become the perfect little addition to my summer makeup bag! It’s available from all Benefit counters and online for £23.50. The ligploss is also very pretty adding a natural brownish hint to my lips (I’m wearing it in the photographs above). This retails for £14.50.

Have you tried Hoola? What’s your favourite bronzer?

 xx

Hoola es mi producto favorito para marcar el contorno, para mi tiene el tono perfecto, ni muy marrón ni muy gris.

I'm pretty pale too and avoid bronzer for this reason! I never get the sun so I feel like any hint of brown is very clearly unnatural and makes me look dirty. I may have to give bronzer another chance though and try the benefit one. Great post for us pale girls! 🙂

I really like Hoola but it sometimes makes me look a little orange, depending on how heavily I've applied.

I sympathize with you — people at school used to call me Casper too :/

Looks wonderful on you! It's noticeable but not too much.

Great shout! I'll have to try this myself as I'm super pale too and most bronzers look terrible on me. Best I've tried so far is The Body Shop's bronzer in the lightest shade but I'll be sure to swatch Hula next time I'm at Benefit!

I must try this if it's good for very pale skin, I always find it such a struggle to find a bronzer that isn't too dark or muddy on my skin!

looks amazing Katie, do they have any other shades for the product because I have a more tanned skin tone so bronzer's hardly appear on me, it's like the exact opposite of your problem haha. I want to try this one though as it looks amazing <3

love the look of both products, i'm a bit pale too sometimes so bronzer/contouring can sometimes look too dark. Hoola looks a fab shade and a great subtle glow

Silly bullies. I think your porcelain skin is stunning! Being a medium skin tone, I love Mac Skin Finish, but the colour is a limited edition and the darn label has worn off.

I have been meaning to pick this up for the longest time now, and after seeing this I really think I'm gonna just have to go for it! It looks fabulous on you, and the personalization of your name is just too adorable. Great post, as usual 🙂
